Harvest: Now Is The Time

August 30, was the Kickoff to our Harvest Campaign, and it was a great Sunday of casting vision for our church and our future: For Jesus, For Auburn. We are excited to be on this journey together as a church. We know that for several, COVID-19 remains a real concern in terms of public gatherings, so we want to update our whole church family each week as we take this journey together. Every Monday this month, we will be sending updates by email with links to the messages from Sunday, both in video and audio form, so that you can stay updated and be part of this Harvest that lies ahead: For Jesus, For Auburn!

Commitment Sunday – One Service @ 10 AM on September 20

This service will be held outdoors on the church’s property on the corner of 14th and Courthouse Ave. Please feel free to bring your lawn chair and join us! As well, please be praying about how the Lord could use your gifts over the next three years to build a great new tool for our church’s ministry far into the future. September 20th is the day we will make these commitments as a church!
If you can’t be there in person, there will be a prerecorded service showing on Facebook and Youtube at the usual 8:30 AM livestream time. During that livestream, we will share a couple ways that you can still participate in commitment Sunday and send your commitment cards in. We will have a Communion & Commitment station open on the new property (corner of 14th & Courthouse Ave) from Noon-2 PM on Sunday, September 20. You can drive up and one of our elders will be there to serve you. Just look for the shelter by the property. There will also be a follow-up letter from us next week. We want to do everything we can, so that everyone can participate in this project!

First Fruits Offering Sunday

Will be on September 27. We will have options to give both in-person and online at either of our regular service times:  8:30 & 10:45 AM. Hope to see you then!

A Youth Pastor?

We are seeking to hire a part-time youth pastor! This person will also fill the role of male campus pastor for Christian Student Fellowship at Peru State College. So it will be one person filling two part-time jobs! Would you join us in praying for the right person for this position, so that we can have this role filled by the end of the year? If you’d like to read the job description for the combined roles, click here.

Sunday School Starts Kickoff

Sunday School for all ages will begin again on Sunday, October 11. Be on the lookout for more details concerning this special Sunday!

A Word on Facemasks

These are challenging times to navigate. Our leadership has wrestled with how to meet together safely. The reason we met outdoors was because we knew the risks of singing indoors, and wanted to be able to adequately clean and sanitize between services due to the elevated risk. In case you aren’t aware, singing indoors is one of the ways that the virus can spread through the air, which is why churches have been listed as high risk. Here’s one of many articles that speaks to the science behind this.
So we have been cautious, keeping singing times short, maintaining social distance, keeping doors open for a time at beginning and end of service for better ventilation, and we sanitize well between the services.
Singing is integral to praising God and we want to keep doing it. However we are seeking to control the spread as much as we can. Here’s how we want to encourage you: please wear a facemask. We are not making it mandatory, but we are STRONGLY ENCOURAGING you. We want to keep meeting indoors, and to keep doing so regularly. The masks we wear will help catch those particles that we breath out when we sing. Pastor Nate and our elders will be wearing masks. And we want to encourage people to wear them for the whole service, only removing them when we take communion together. Thanks for considering this, both to help slow the spread and to help keep us meeting in person.

Worship COVID-Style

Here are a few items of note to help you acclimate to services in the building:
• We will be doing our best to prop doors open, so you won’t have to handle so many shared surfaces.
• All seating will be socially distanced, with 6 feet between family units in our seating area. We will be able to seat around 100 per service, so please come join us!
• We won’t have any nursery, Sunday School or kids church, but we will continue to offer the take-home busy bags for the kiddos!
• We won’t hand out bulletins. Everything you’ll need will be at your seat waiting for you.
• We recommend that you wear a facemask to our worship gathering.
• Please arrive 10 minutes or less prior to service, and please clear the room within 10 minutes of the service’s conclusion. This will help us get sanitized and ready for the next service.
• If you are sick, have symptoms or are vulnerable, please stay home! We will continue to livestream our services on Facebook, YouTube & our Website. These will be shown at their new time during our services at 8:30 AM.
• We have a great team of volunteers working to sanitize before and after the services in all the common areas and the bathrooms. We will do our very best to keep it as clean and healthy as possible. Thanks for being flexible and helping us in the process of getting back into the building! Great things are ahead for ACC this year, and I hope you’re planning to be with us for as much as possible. Our next goal is to work toward having regular Sunday School, small groups and youth programming again soon. Please keep our leaders in your prayers as we move forward on these things!
